Position Job Title:     Land Acquisition Intern
FLSA Status:             Hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Summary
The New Home Co. Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in the dynamic field of New Home Sales with an emphasis on Land Acquisition and Development. The Land Intern will be immersed in the processes of land acquisition, with a special focus on pre-acquisition research and modeling.

During this internship, the Land Intern will participate in key land acquisition and development tasks and have the chance to learn directly from experienced professionals in the field. They will gain valuable insights into the steps involved in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring land for new home development projects. Through hands-on involvement, they will strengthen their skills in data analysis, market research, and strategic decision-making. This role provides valuable exposure to both land acquisition and the construction aspects of the business, allowing the intern to gain insight into how land acquisition integrates within the homebuilding industry.

Job Duties:      
  • General & Administrative Duties:
    • Conduct pre-acquisition data analysis and research.
    • Learn and apply the basics of financial modeling.
    • Participate in the drafting of investment books, and assist with business plans.
    • Provide general office support.
  • Shadowing/Meeting Attendance:
    • Work closely with experienced leaders as they identify, evaluate, and possibly create new business investments for the company.
  • Special Projects:
    • The Final Internship Project is a culminating experience for the intern to showcase the skills, knowledge, and insights they have gained throughout their internship. This project will be presented to supervisors and team members, serving as both a reflection of the intern's journey and a valuable overview of their contributions to the organization.

Position Qualifications
Education
  •   Currently enrolled in a collegiate program
Skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized and follows tasks through to completion.
  • Able to manage time wisely and work within deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, able to anticipate, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be computer literate, with intermediate experience in Windows, Word, and Excel
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a small team.
  • Have a basic understanding of real estate transactions.

Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to hear, type and talk in addition to sitting 100% of the time. The primary work location is a corporate office with low to moderate noise levels.
